In this article we cover:
Overview
Security is the cornerstone of our platform and part of our business’ DNA. Two-Factor Authentication is just one of the security measures we use to provide an extra layer of security, helping to keep you and your account secure.
Once you enter your credentials during log in, you’ll need to provide a distinctive 6-digit security code. This code can be sent to your registered email or generated by an Authenticator app, associated with your Octet account.
Switch Two-Factor Authentication Methods
By default, your security code will be sent to your registered email address, however, you can use an Authenticator app on your smart device if preferred.
You can switch your preferred method by:
Click on your Company Name on the top right corner of our platform
Then, click Account Preferences
Click 2-Step Verification to expand
Select your preferred method Email or Authenticator App
About Authenticator Apps
Authenticator apps generate Two-Step Verification codes on your chosen device to provide an extra layer of security to your account.
Setting up your Authenticator App
Once you have selected the Authenticator app as your preferred method, click Ok, Continue in the first pop-up. This will be followed by another pop-up with a unique QR code will appear. Follow these steps to finish your set-up:
Using your chosen Authenticator app, Scan the QR code with your device's camera OR copy and paste the recovery key below the QR code into your Authenticator app
Once scanned, your Authenticator app will generate a 6-digit code
Enter the 6-digit code from your Authenticator app
Then, click Save Changes
If successful, you’ll be presented with a success message to confirm the change in your Two-Factor Authentication method.
⚠️ Important Note
If you attempt to update or re-configure Two-Step Authentication on your authenticator app, do not enter the new code that has been generated as this will invalidate any previously configured authenticator app settings.
